And the Winner Is…

Anyone who loves great fashion!  Last night’s red carpet was truly something to behold– easily the best I’ve seen in a few years.  So who was Best Dressed?  Well, the nominees are…

VIOLA DAVIS

from Us Weekly

She’s a modern-day Marilyn in this knock-out bronze halter.  Viola dressed like a woman who knew she was about to have the night of her life.

KATE WINSLET

from Us Weekly

This very couture gown was a departure from Kate’s typically understated style.  I didn’t love her hair, but the excellent fit and exquisite black embroidery more than make up for it.

MARISA TOMEI

from Us Weekly

The Best Supporting Actress nominee took a risk with this gloriously pleated oyster gown.  It’s a lot of dress for her slim frame, and while it may have one flourish too many, overall it’s daring and fun.

ALICIA KEYS

from Us Weekly

Who says nominees have all the fun?  Alicia’s lovely architectural gown features luscious color and an inventive take on the asymmetrical trend.

They’re all so gorgeous, but my pick for Very Best Dressed is…

ANNE HATHAWAY

from Us Weekly

Anne is breathtaking in one of the best gowns I’ve seen in years.  If I had my choice between this gown and an Oscar, I would take the dress.  No contest.

Of course, I was thrilled to see incredible jewelry ruling the red carpet.  A couple of stand-outs:

ANGELINA JOLIE

from Us Weekly

Sure, the dress was Basic Blah, but who cares when you’ve got 9,000,000 carats of emeralds.  (And she gets some points for great hair.)

AMY ADAMS

from Us Weekly

A divisive necklace (I even heard someone call it “Skittles!”), but I loved it.  If she’d paired it with a more neutral gown, a la Angelina, she’d be earning raves.

These ladies gave us a fabulous red carpet indeed!  But in case anyone thinks the West Coast owns glamour, check out what Michelle Obama wore to last night’s White House dinner:

from Huffington Post

Stunning!  And even more exciting than her dreamy, confectionary Inaugural gown.  I can’t wait to see what she wears next.

So what did you think?  Do you agree with my faves?  Who did I leave out?  And whose look left you cold?

Ooh. My vote is for Vioila. And I thought I cleaned up well!! Seeing her on the screen and the red carpet I thought she was two different people. Anyone who can hide all that glamor on the screen deserves a statue!!! I also thought Alicia’s dress was stunning with a capital wow. I wish I could have been there! A girl can dream, can’t she?
